Course conditions were perfect and the weather fine at Woodbridge GC in a match
most pundits predicted would see a win for George Courtney’s All Stars, continuing
the recent trend of vice captain wins. Even a BT senior manager was convinced
the result was in George’s favour after the match. The final count proved otherwise.
A number of new members took part in what turned out to be a very enjoyable
evening’s golf. Thanks to all for turning up on time and making this event
so enjoyable. George was still showing the devastating form that saw him win
by 14 holes against Lloyd’s bank. My partner and I were well beaten by a ruthless
George and a 9 under handicap Bob McDermott but my team came through to win
the day.
At this point in the season I am pleased to say that all members who have applied
to play in society matches have had at least one match to date. Thank you all
for your continued support.
