The match was held on 4 May 00 and was very successful from both the playing, and the social point of view.

Congratulations to all our players who played excellent team golf, we recorded a record-breaking win that our opponents accepted with very good grace (quote from their captain Ian Robinson when thanking Stowmarket for the standard of catering - "This is the second time today my team have been stuffed"). Ian Robinson has suggested that we should have a trophy for the match to be held by the winning team each year. To start the idea off, he presented me as, BT team captain, with a sauce bottle! This for me sums up the friendly spirit in which this game is always played.

Many thanks to all who supported the event, I only hope you enjoyed your day as much as I did.
