Match Report

BT v Ex-BT

The date for this year's match was 16th August, the venue being Waldringfield G.C. Only 5 pairings were played, instead of the usual 6, with the format altered to Match play instead of Hambro, in an attempt to finish before darkness set in. The hospitality shown by Waldringfield G.C. was once again excellent, with a very nice buffet laid on afterwards. I would like to thank both the bar and kitchen staff for the catering and in particular I'd like to thank the Secretary, Les McWade, for his help with the arrangements.

As usual for this match, a large number of members requested to play, making the selection process difficult. All was in place for a good match, a fine summer's evening, a course in good condition, what could be better!! Both teams wished each other well then focused hard on winning. All participants played well and fought hard to win, making a closely fought match. But, one team had to win and unfortunately it wasn't us. Congratulations go to the XBT team who won 3 -2. But, as they say, it's not the winning that counts, it's the taking part.
