On the evening evening of 8th August 2000, twelve members of BTRGS played against
Halesworth Golf Club. Our only good fortune was with the weather - there was
heavy rain before and after the event - as we went down to a heavy defeat.
There was a lot of course improvement underway, so the course seemed quite
different from this time last year: four holes of the nine-hole course (at the
front of the club house) have become the first four holes of the main course,
the old holes four to six at the far east of the course were not in service
and the eigth hole had a temporary green.
The two Jons (Hammond and Hopkins) produced the best result with a draw. Unfortunately
Alan and I achieved the worst result, playing against James (HGC Cpatain) who
was on such great form that he went round in a gross 71! - well that's my excuse
and I'm sticking to it.
The evening concluded with a meal in the dining room on and we were invited
to return again next year.
