Firstly many thanks for all those who played. No last minute call-offs and
all the money came in on time.
As for the match, well the weather threatened to soak us. Black clouds skirted
the course but most completed 18 holes without getting wet. We played match
play to give us the option of walking in if the weather deteriorated. Our match
went to the wire and unfortunately the heavens finally opened on the 17th. Stars
of the day - Erik Hansen posted an individual 41 points (he will be speaking
to George very soon about his handicap) - Mark Ashton finished 4 over the course
(and we still drew!!) The general consensus was that this fixture is very popular
both with Willis and BT, the atmosphere was excellent, everyone liked the course
and as a result it has been booked for next year. One society member who choose
to play for Willis was soundly put in his place. Well done Simon Mahoney and
Mick Day.
