Match Report
BT v Ex-BT, 15/8/2001
Firstly, I would like to thank all who attended, in particular, those who stepped
in at the last minute to make up the team. I hope you all enjoyed the evening.
The match this year was played on the 18 hole course at Ipswich Golf Club (Purdis).
I'd like to say I planned the day to coincide with the weather, but I can't.
The weather was perfect, in fact some were saying a little too perfect, as temperatures
were in the 30's. This made the drinking point, on the 9th tee a welcome break.
The course was in top condition, both in presentation and playability. Ipswich
Golf Club looked after us well, with a particular thanks going to the caterers,
who stayed on to prepare the evening meal.
This is an event which is always enjoyable to play, with the opportunity to
meet and chat with friends and colleagues from (can I say this) the old days.
And as always they gave us a closely fought match. But, unfortunately we were
not successful this time, losing by 4 holes. However, as I've said in the past,
the main purpose of the day was to have an enjoyable evening of golf and socialising,
and in that respect everybody won.
Once again, many thanks to all who supported this event and I look forward
to seeing you all in the future.
Andy Randall
Captain of the Day
