On the evening of 7th August 2000, twelve members of BTRGS played against Halesworth
Golf Club. The weather forecast was rain, but they were wrong, for we played
in bright sunshine. My forecast was a win, but I was wrong, for we lost by four
holes.
Our first five pairs each returned a narrow defeat, but it was not a complete
whitewash for Mark and Rob returned with an impressive win by four holes - which
just proves that you do not always need a 30 minute warm-up before a match (sorry;
private joke)!
Halesworth golf club is about to undergo £1.5M of changes to the course
over the next two years, with radical restructuring of most holes. Next year
the course will be down to nine holes whilst the work progresses.
The evening concluded with a meal in the dining room on and we were invited
to return again next year. My thanks to all who played and especially to Baard,
for stepping in at very short notice.
