The match was very successful from the social point of view. Unfortunately,
our play was just not quite good enough to retain the trophy. The morning 4BBB
was a disappointment for us, but the fighting spirit in the afternoon singles
nearly saved the day.
Despite the clash with the Spring Meeting, the repeat of a 36 hole contest
was very well received by both sides and we had a mainly dry day in which to
play our golf. The innovation of playing singles in the afternoon was a great
success and as we played in fourballs the social side wasn't neglected. The
opposition were, as usual, a very friendly bunch and, this time, we had every
reason to drown our sorrows during another excellent meal provided by the Stowmarket
catering staff. The course was not in very good shape, but they were preparing
for a major event the following week so our timing may have been a little out.
Many thanks to all who supported the event, I only hope you enjoyed your day
as much as I did.
