Match Report

BTRGS v Suffolk County Council Golf Society, 14th September

The much re-scheduled BT v SCC match for 2005 took place on a warm afternoon/evening at Waldringfield Golf Club.

Many thanks to all that took part and especially to Baard Grindberg for suggesting the change to making the team 8 strong (and being the late replacement), and to Alan Porter for inviting his friend (Andy) to make up our team numbers so that match could be played.
Waldringfield Golf Course was in good condition, however the greens had been recently hollow-tined and top-dressed so putting was a bit of a lottery and you had to be firm.

As to the match, BT lost 2 down in Hambro scoring. However the matches were close fought:

• Alan Porter and Andy halved the 1st match
• Kev Folan and David Bell lost the 2nd match 1 down
• Steve Boswell and Erik Hansen lost the 3rd match 4 down
• Trevor Buck and Baard Grindberg won the last match 3 up.

In the final match, it is worth noting that Trevor completed the back-nine in a level par gross score of 35 and overall was round in a gross 76. Unfortunately for him he was playing with the BTRGS Handicap Secretary so his performance was noted for the record!

After the match all adjourned to the clubhouse terrace for an excellent evening meal and the Suffolk Challenge Cup presented to the SCC Team Captain (Alan) by David Bell.
