We resurrected our match against Willis which had fallen off the calendar over
the last couple of years and were lucky to have excellent weather after constant
downpours of rain earlier in the day.
Brett Vale was in excellent condition and all the players enjoyed seeing the
course at its best and the hospitality provided by Daniel and his team on the
day.
We agreed with the Willis Captain (Richard) that the result would be done on
Hambro scoring - a decision I came to regret!
The match was finely balanced and all hinged on myself and Paul Burke in the
last fourball. Unfortunately we were against Terry (who played to 2 over gross
off 11 handicap) and Richard (who turned up with metal spikes, couldn't get
them removed from his old shoes and ended up buying a brand new pair). Together
they were inspired and Paul and I lost our match and as a result of the Hambro
scoring the match overall as well.
All players agreed it had been an enjoyable day and we vowed to keep the match
going again next year.
