BTRGS Match Report 2006
BT v Ipswich Borough Council
Date: Thursday 8th June 2006 Venue: Rushmere Golf Club, Ipswich Format: 4BBB Hambro scoring
The weather was hot & dry, there was no wind; ideal playing conditions were presented to us.
As usual there was a last minute panic as two of the players were late arriving, one from each team but we soon got underway. A couple of the Ipswich BC players were in the bar having a beer when we arrived & I thought that would give us an edge.
Everybody had a great evening’s golf, and the match was enjoyed by all. The final result was a win for BT by 7 holes which was closer then it seems as 3 matches were halved.
This is a great result as over half of the Ipswich BC team are Rushmere members.
As usual there was a lovely meal afterwards of roast beef followed by apple crumble.
My thanks go to Bob & his staff at Rushmere for looking after us so well.
