We played our annual match against Lloyds Bank at Stowmarket on Friday 5th May in glorious conditions. It was hot, sunny, little breeze making for a very enjoyable days golf.

The course at Stowmarket was in good condition, the greens were a little slow as they had not been cut (for a couple of days according to Gareth who is a member) but they putted very true.

We again had a very close match with the morning fourballs being halved (although BT were behind on Hambro scoring) before we again won the singles matches in the afternoon. John Bates and I were playing the Captain and Secretary of the Lloyds Society in the last singles of the afternoon and arriving at the 18th hole both matches had everything to play for and as the last matches out there was a lot of nervous tension over both the tee shots and putts. It was only when we got in that we found the match had already been won thanks to the good play by everyone else before us.

The catering was again excellent, ham egg and chips at lunchtime followed by a fantastic piece of roast beef in the evening which everyone enjoyed.

We retained the trophy for the 3rd year running and look forward to continuing this very friendly match next year.
