Match Report
BT v St Clements - Ian Reddington Memorial Trophy
Date: 26th April 2006
Venue: St Clement's Golf Club
Format: 4BBB Hambro scoring
The match was held at St. Clements 30 minutes later than the original
scheduled time of 4:30pm. Another mix up by the Captain of the Day!!!.
But we had a shotgun start at 5:00pm with a full complement of 12
players on each side for 6 matches of 4BBB Hambro scoring. The course
was in its usually lush condition, with an interesting set of pin
positions, which I believe were a hangover for the previous weekend’s
Tolly competition, in which they thrashed Stowmarket GC.
The weather was conducive to good golf (a pity for the Captain
of the Day ) and due to the later start, the evening drew in over
the last few holes but we were still able to complete all the matches.
As to the match, the result was a victory for St Clements by 12
holes, and by 5matches to 1.
Therefore St Clements retained the Ian Reddington Memorial Cup
(If the future years competitions go to form, as previously the
cup has been held alternatively for 2 years each, we should win
it for the next 2 years).
As I mentioned in my speech, I would like to thank the St. Clements
Greenkeeper for the interesting pin positions, which made the short
game very demanding.
