BT v Legal and General
Date: 25th July 2007 Venue: Upminster Golf Club. Format: 4BBB Hambro scoring
BT were the away team for this year’s contest which was held at Upminster golf club, tucked away in the suburbs of Essex. We were fortunate to have mainly dry weather during the match with a light sprinkle of rain, but the wind certainly came into play on several of the holes. The course itself was in excellent condition and the greens were running true. The course has an unusual layout with a par 3 to start and finish and the rest of the course lying on the other side of the main road, where you soon get away from the houses. The layout is quite compact and makes good use of the woods and river for a challenging game of golf.
BT were hoping to repeat the win of last year, but were beaten by a very much on-form L&G team who won by 10 holes in Hambro scoring (three matches up). We’ll need to put in some serious practice for next year’s match, when BT will be the hosts.
