This years John Kerry Trophy tournament took place at Waldringfield Heath Golf
Club on Wednesday 25th August. Despite the fact that it was in the middle of
the summer holiday period, there were still 20 participants giving a good field.
Even though it rained extensively, and there was even a short spell of thunder
and lightning, the scoring was still very good with 6 of the 10 teams scoring
40 stableford points or better. On any other day the score of 47 points posted
by Ian Parsons and Ivan Catling would surely have been enough. However, this
was bettered by an extremely impressive score of 48 points by Gerry Markham
and Kevin Harvey.
A consolation for the soggy golfers as they came off 18 was that the new clubhouse
was open and hearty refreshments were enjoyed by all.
Despite whatever organisation takes place, it is still the participants that
make an event a success, so well done to you all as everyone seemed to enjoy
themselves. I know I did !
